Do you have any home improvement projects coming up this summer? Maybe you are remodeling a kitchen or bathroom. If you are considering tile, then think about recycled content tiles.
A favorite company of mine is Oceanside Glasstile. This company has absolutely gorgeous mosaic tiles made from up to 65 percent post-consumer recycled glass. When combined with pre-consumer and/or post-industrial glass, the recycled content can go up to 97 percent recycled content. That’s an impressive number.
My favorite thing about Oceanside is the iridescent tiles. Oceanside carries little 2 by 2 inch mosaic tiles up to 10 by 10 inch tiles. Besides those basics, there is also a slue of specialty tiles.
Besides Oceanside, there are other sustainable tile companies. I haven’t used them myself, but here are a few companies you can check out; Terra Green, Crossville, Fireclay Tile, Eco Friendly Flooring — which has much more than just flooring, and is located here in Wisconsin, and Eco Friendly Tiles — located in the United Kingdom. That is a short list. By looking in your local yellow pages, or doing an Internet search, you can find many more places with eco friendly tiles for your counter and/or back splash.
I’ll be posting more blogs about sustainable decorating materials. If you know someone getting ready to start a project, share these companies with them. Heck, share my blog with them. You know you want to.
